Matty G drove 90 miles over Highway 17 — one of the most dangerous stretches of road in Northern California — to meet WOMP TV at Philz Coffee on 24th Street in the Mission at 9am. After the interview he drove straight back to Santa Cruz to make his shift at work by 1pm. That is who Matty G is before he plays a single note.

The inaugural Beyond Wonderland was sold out. The venue was NOS Events Center in San Bernardino — a structure built to hold freight planes and 45-foot trailers, not ravers. Insomniac had sectioned it off, dressed it up, and handed DJ SS the keys to the drum and bass room.
