Drum and bass has been alive in the United States since the early 1990s. San Francisco had a scene. Los Angeles had a scene. New York, Dallas, Chicago, DC — they all had scenes. Real parties. Real artists. Real culture built by real people who chose this music when it was underground and kept it alive when no one was paying attention.

None of it was documented. None of it was centered. The media that covered DnB covered the UK, because that's where the infrastructure was — major labels, national radio, a centralized club circuit. American heads built the scene anyway, self-funded and invisible to the rest of the world.

WOMP TV was built to end that erasure. Not to compete with what exists. To fill the void that should never have been there — and to make sure the American DnB boom happening right now routes its benefits back to the community that built the culture, not just to the commercial tier that arrived after the fact.

WOMP TV was founded by a San Francisco-based drum and bass head who entered the American scene in 1997. Not a journalist who discovered DnB. Not a media entrepreneur who identified a market gap. Someone who was there — at the parties, in the culture, connected to the artists — before the platform existed and long before it became a strategy.

That insider credibility is the platform's primary asset. It's what makes WOMP TV editorially different from anything a UK publication or a commercial media company could produce about the American scene. The authority is real because the history is real.
